New Trends: A Holistic Approach to Weight Management

Health-conscious consumers are not only trying to lose weight but also aiming to maintain other health outcomes, such as metabolic health.

82%

of adults currently managing weight in some capacity.¹

1 in 5

deaths worldwide each year are caused by cardiovascular disease according to the World Health Organization in 2022.²

$22.3bn

The sales of weight management supplements is valused at $22.3billion by 2033, growing at 14.2% CAGR.³

How does it work?

ANKASCIN® 568 Maintains a Healthy Metabolic Index

Through up-regulating lipolysis and down-regulating lipogenesis, MS and AK promotes triglyceride/fatty acid metabolize to generate ATP.⁴

Targeting Stubborn Visceral Fat

Visceral body fat, also known as “hidden” fat, is fat stored deep inside the belly, wrapped around the organs, including the liver and intestines. Having visceral fat might lead to high blood pressure, obesity, and more. MS and AK both resulted in lower total visceral fat in obese rats fed a high-fat and high-cholesterol diet (HFC).⁵

Maintaining Healthy TG Levels

Triglycerides (TG) in adipocytes provide the major stores of metabolic energy in the body, but exceeding the capacity for storage results in metabolic disease. MS and AK attenuated TG accumulation in maturing preadipocytes and TG levels in the liver of FRD-induced mice.6, 7

ANKASCIN® 568 facilitates lipolysis and reduce lipogenesis

Lipase in adipocytes mediates TG breakdown, MS and AK increased lipase activity and facilitated lipolysis by 14% and 10.7%.

Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) in adipose tissue is a key enzyme for adipogenesis. MS and AK contribute to the effect of reversing high-fat-diet-raised HR-LPL activity by 34.8% and 30.5%, thereby reducing lipogenesis.

Lipid Absorbtion Inhibition

Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) is a key protein that promotes lipid absorption in the small intestine. MS and AK suppress the expression of NPC1L1 protein by 73.6% and 26.1%, respectively.⁵

Metabolic Hormone Balance

The best-known adipokines are leptin and adiponectin, which are produced by all types of adipose cells. Abnormal leptin and adiponectin levels are associated with metabolic syndrome and its related complication. The high-fat diet (HFD) decreases serum adiponectin and increase leptin, however, AK administration significantly recovered the adiponectin level and inhibited the increase in serum leptin.⁸

Metabolic Regulator Activation: AMPK

Studies show that increasing AMPK activity can encourage cells to stop storing fat and start burning it for energy. MS and AK activate AMPK in the liver of mice receiving a high-fat diet.⁹
