Abstract:Hyperlipidemia and inflammation significantly contribute to atherosclerosis, a key factor in cardiovascular events. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study investigated the lipid-lowering effects of Ankascin 568 plus, derived from Monascus purpureus NTU 568 fermentation, in adults with borderline high total cholesterol (TC ≥180 mg/dL) and LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C 130–190 mg/dL). Forty participants aged 18–65 received either placebo or one daily 500 mg capsule of Ankascin 568 plus for 12 weeks. After 4 weeks, significant reductions in TC (11.9%) and LDL-C (19.0%) were observed compared to baseline (p < 0.05). Ankascin 568 plus effectively reduced serum cholesterol levels, suggesting potential benefits in maintaining healthy blood lipid profiles and supporting cardiovascular health.
